Batu Ferringhi

We arrived in Penang late at night for us but only early evening Malaysian time and took a taxi to Batu Ferringhi where we stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort. Even the drive was a surprise for us with constant tooting, small children on the back of scooters with no helmets and overloaded cars everywhere. The next day we got up at 5:30am, which is one of my favourite things about travelling as I’m not a morning person but wake up before sunrise ready to go before adjusting to the time difference. Most mornings we went for a long walk down the beach enjoying the heat and the atmosphere, watching the stray cats down one end of the beach and stray dogs down the other. It was mildly smokey because of the burning forests in Indonesia. The food, facilities and pool were all enjoyable, and service was excellent with staff being extra friendly to the kids.
